Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does it take to install the uSki?
The uSki is very easy to adjust and takes less than two minutes to install on the skis. During the first use, it will be necessary to adjust the maximum spacing between the skis, and the positioning of the handles held by the student. Detailed instructions can be found here.
  • Is it easy to use uSki?
The uSki is very intuitive, it only takes a few minutes to get used to the basic maneuvers on an easy slope. For a more advanced use, a learning method is proposed here.
  • What should I pay attention to when using uSki?
Sliding sports being risky by nature, the instructor is responsible for ensuring the safety of the pair. He is required to comply with the safety instructions set out here.
  • Is uSki suitable for beginner adults?
The uSki is suitable for adults weighing up to 80 kg on gentle slopes. Beyond this weight, especially when the track is steep, there is a risk that some elements will detach or break (for example, the "breakable" part placed for safety between the carabiner and the end of the leash)
  • Is uSki suitable for people with disabilities?
The uSki has been successfully tested by a blind man, a child with Down syndrome, and a child suffering from a rare genetic disease that exhausts him with the slightest effort. The only condition is that the person can stand on both legs.
  • Up to what speed and on what type of slope can the uSki be used?
The uSki is not made to gain high speed, nor to be used on difficult slopes. It should be used on gentle slopes at moderate speed, avoiding slopes with many cants.
  • Is there a weight limit for uSki users?
The uSki can be used by people whose weight does not exceed 80 kg. Although it has been tested with a person weighing 110kg, we cannot guarantee that the device will withstand this type of load, especially when the slope becomes steep.
  • Does uSki prevent all falls?
The uSki does not prevent all falls, but considerably limits their number and greatly reduces their severity. Indeed, thanks to the spacing management system, the beginner can neither cross the skis nor spread them too far. This avoids most edge faults that cause traumatic falls.
  • Does uSki increase the risk of collision with other users?
An instructor/student duo who moves on a track necessarily takes up more space. As a result, the risk of collision is increased, especially when the slope is narrow or frequented by fast skiers. In such a case, it is recommended to reduce the speed and stay close to the beginner, avoiding being out of step with him.
  • Can uSki be used on ski lifts?
The uSki facilitates the use of certain lifts such as ski lifts, crossbows, and snow wires. Certain precautions must be observed when using chairlifts, including to carefully store the leashes after unhanging the carabiners, to avoid any snags with the lift parts...
  • How long does the warranty last?
The uSki is guaranteed for 12 months for all manufacturing defects (except in the case of improper use). Please make sure to use a photo of the invoice or receipt to certify the date of purchase.
  • The central socket is blocked, what can I do?
When snow gets inside the female tip, it can prevent the two bars of the uSki from fitting. To remove snow, you can blow into the hole at the back of the female tip.
